Second radio survey for Townsville

Townsville will release its second radio survey in just over a year today, demonstrating the success of the new regional surveys system, which has enabled more regular measurement of audience data for stations serving regional Australia. 
Stations including Power100 (formerly Zinc), Star 106.3, Hot FM and 4TO will find out how they have fared since the release of the last radio survey in November 2015, which was the first survey for Townsville in 12 years.
The new survey was undertaken by Xtra Insights and involved 1,200 participants who were asked which station they listened to most.
“It’s great to see a second radio survey for Townsville, as the data gives stations valuable information on how they’re performing with listeners and equips the sales team with information for advertisers and agencies,” said Joan Warner, CEO of Commercial Radio Australia, the peak industry body.
Commercial Radio Australia introduced a new system for regional radio ratings from 2014, which allows smaller radio markets to undertake more regular, reliable and cost effective audience measurement.  
Regional surveys have been conducted in the following areas since the new system was introduced: Albany, Albury, Bendigo, Bunbury, Bundaberg, Cairns, Central Queensland, Coffs Harbour, Colac, Darwin, Dubbo, Geelong, Gosford, Griffith, Hamilton, Hobart, Horsham, Kalgoorlie, Kempsey (Port Macquarie), Mackay, Maryborough, Mildura, Mt Gambier, Orange, Sale, Shepparton, Sunshine Coast, Swan Hill, Toowoomba, Townsville, Wagga Wagga, Warrnambool, Warragul and Wollongong. 
Townsville is the last regional survey release for 2016.  The results will be available from 10.00 am on the Radio It’s A Love Thing website.
