The first ever radio ratings for the mining town of Mount Isa in Queensland’s north west will be released today.
The commercial radio stations serving the population of 21,000 people are Hit102.5 Mt Isa, part of the Southern Cross Austereo network, and 4LM 666, owned by Resonate Broadcasting.
Mt Isa’s existence and its main financial driver is the Mount Isa Mine, the world’s largest single producer of copper, silver, lead and zinc.
The survey was conducted by Xtra Insights and is one of more than 30 radio surveys to be conducted across regional Australia in 2017.
Commercial Radio Australia introduced a new system for regional radio ratings last year, which allows smaller radio markets to undertake more regular, reliable and cost effective audience measurement.
Radio surveys have recently been released for Dubbo, Mandurah, Wheatbelt and Esperance.
Ratings results will also be released for 10 other markets in the June quarter. They are: Kingaroy, Roma, Emerald/Central Highlands, Mackay and Cairns in Queensland; Ballarat in Victoria; Launceston in Tasmania and Port Macquarie/Kempsey, Albury and Coffs Harbour in New South Wales.
Data from all the regional surveys is available to media agencies online through the Frequency Regional Radio ratings analyser tool. For more information on Frequency, contact Alan Logan at Walk Creative on firstname.lastname@example.org.
