Survey reveals who’s listening in Emerald


Radio ratings will be released today for the Emerald/Central Highlands region of Queensland as part of the commercial radio industry’s initiative to measure radio audiences across the country.
 
The two local commercial radio stations serving the community are Hit 94.7 Emerald, part of the Southern Cross Austereo network, and 4HI (1143 AM), offering a mix of news, talk, sport and music.
 
Emerald is a mining town producing coal for export and also supports cattle, cotton and grain production.
 
Joan Warner, chief executive officer of industry body Commercial Radio Australia said: “Commercial radio stations are always looking for better ways to inform and entertain the community and having independent audience research will help us to keep improving services to our listeners in Emerald and the Central Highlands.”
 
The survey was conducted by Xtra Insights from 18 April – 6 May and the results will be available at 10am AEST on the Radio It’s A Love Thing website. 
 
Radio surveys have been released this year for Dubbo, Mandurah, Wheatbelt, Esperance, Kingaroy, Mount Isa and Roma.
 
Ratings results will also be released for seven other regional markets in the June quarter.  They are: Mackay and Cairns in Queensland; Ballarat in Victoria; Launceston in Tasmania and Port Macquarie/Kempsey, Albury and Coffs Harbour in New South Wales.
 
Data from all the regional surveys is available to media agencies online through the Frequency Regional Radio ratings analyser tool.
