Changes to annual leave provisions in awards - Sept 2016
The Fair Work Commssion recently handed down a decision that will lead to some significant changes to annual leave entitlements in awards affecting the industry.
In particular the decision paves the way for the following changes:
cashing out of up to 2 weeks annual leave entitlement per year by mutual agreement
granting leave in advance of the entitlement being accrued, with recovery of any outsanding monies owing at the time of termination
The Commission has not ruled on a number of other issues at this stage and is requiring further consultation on matters such as payment of annual leave on termination and "purchased leave" whereby an employee may forego remuneration for increased leave entitlements.
CRA will consult and inform members on developments as they come to hand. All award changes will be advised by Management Circular.
