Commercial radio's industrial and employee relations practices and procedures are regulated by various laws and bodies. These primarily exist at Commonwealth level and, however some state legislation still has effect, particularly laws relating to OH&S and anti-discrimination.
The Fair Work Act (& its associated regulations) is the primary source of industrial legislation effecting the industry. Some of the main provisions include:
- National Employment Standards
- Modern Awards
- Unfair dismissal
- Termination and redundancy
- Role and powers of Fair Work Australia (formerly Aust. Industrial Relations Commission)
- Role and powers of Fair Work Ombudsman
