At the request of the Federal Government, the Australian Industrial Relations Commission (AIRC) is currently reviewing all awards, with the intention to create "new modern awards" with much braoder coverage across either industry or occupational lines. These "new modern awards" will come into effect on 1 January 2010.
As part of this review, the AIRC is reviewing the existing Commercial Radio Awards, with a view to having them absorbed into a broader Entertainment & Broadcasting Award. Following extensive consultation with its members, Commercial Radio Australia has requested that the Commercial Radio Industry have its own award and we should not be covered by any broader award for the Entertainment & Broadcasting industries. CRA is monitoring the situation closely and will continue to make representations to the AIRC throughout this process to ensure the interests of the radio industry are heard. CRA will also continue to consult & update members regarding any developments in this process.
On the 22 of May, the AIRC released a draft exposure award for the Broadcasting & Recorded Entertainment Industry. Please see attached link.

Australian Industry Group (AIG) has made extensive submissions, on behalf of CRA, in relation to the making of a modern award for sales representatives. CRA will be maintain close liaison with AIG throughout this process to ensure commercial radio industry interests are being effectively represented.

The Commercial Sales Award 2010 , was released on 4 Sept 2009. Members should note that this award is still incomplete, as the transitional provisions are yet to be determined.
Clerks
The AIRC has created a new modern award to cover clerical and administrative employees. At this stage, it would appear that this award will cover clerical staff in the radio industry. For details of this award please refer to below.
