Home Improvement

The Home Improvment FCT survey explored peoples behaviour and purchasing intentions around renovations, upgrades and decorations around the home. The survey which was conducted between 14 March and 6 April 2017, attracted the responses of over 1,700 regional radio listeners nationally.

National key insights:

  • 89% of respondents own a stand-alone house
  • 31% of respondents agree that hearing a radio personality on a commercial for home improvement improves their trust of that product or service
  • 31% of respondents are influenced by radio commercials for their home improvement projects
  • 22% of respondents who own a home will spend between $10,000–20,000 on their home improvement project
  • 26% of homeowners plan on getting a loan to fund their home improvement project
  • 71% of respondents agreed that having an environmentally friendly home is important
  • 81% of home owners are planning on making home improvements in the next year. One in four are planning these improvements in the next three months
