Radio Insights

Radio Insights (formerly AudienScope) is a national online survey of behaviour, providing context and additional perspective to the Australian radio ratings. The research is released quarterly and involves 5,000 respondents per year.

While the radio ratings provide data on "who" is listening to "what", Radio Insights looks at the reasons "why" by delving deeper into listening behaviour.

Key findings:
  • Australian radio audiences have grown by 7% in the last five years and that 19% of people are listening to more radio now than they were a year ago
  • Nearly half (48%) of all listeners choosing to stay on the same station for long periods of time, demonstrating its value as a multi-tasking medium that is often consumed in conjunction with other activities
  • Six in 10 people listen to their favourite radio station because of personality-driven content
  • More than 80% of listeners agreed that the attribute they most preferred in a presenter was a sense of humour.
