Banking on Radio – Personal Finance

Nielsen and Commercial Radio & Audio have released a Consumer Insights Report aimed at providing advertisers with further insight into the financial habits of four distinct groups of Australians, and what role radio plays in their financial decisions.

Key national insights:

  • 19% of Australians feel they ‘have no money spare’ for those little extras in life
  • At the other end of the scale 21% of Australians state they feel ‘financially free’
  • 69% of Australian radio listeners say they are very or quite satisfied with their main financial institution; while 6% say they are not very or not at all satisfied
  • The majority of Australians aged 18+ (62%), says their main financial account is with one of the big four banks (CBA, ANZ, NAB, Westpac)
  • 11% of commercial radio listeners say they are very or quite likely to change their main financial institution in the next six months
  • One in five (22%) commercial radio listeners list their investment/savings priority for the next two to three years as ‘saving for a car or holiday’; while 18% are ‘paying off their home’; and 18% also ‘saving for retirement’.
